Which of these events seem most unlikely to have happened in DaBears 5 games in one night?

• Matt Smith hits a Home Run
• Alan Smith breaks the record for oldest Bear to take the field
• DaBears take 3 out of 5 games
• We only had 1 strikeout in 5 games and it wasn’t Nick or Colby
• Hurricane Ditka needed to go a full 7 innings to squeak by the worst team in the league 6-5
• Said worst team in the league had a girl playing second base
• Matt Smith tied the record with 3 Put Outs in one inning at first base
• Alan Smith tied the record the very next inning with Put Outs at second base
• Colby Horton had to break a record by recording the final out in all 3 innings played in the 8:30 game
• Matt Smith had to break a record as well as he was forced out at 3^rd base on each of Colby’s ground outs
• DaBears had announcers and cameras out at the fields and actually did play by play/PA work in the first game

They all happened… I guess I should have asked which one was more of a shocker?
Peters and Neven were also a bug part of DaBears Action News Team and were very funny. I don’t remember the scores, it might be a while before all the stats are totaled up and the video is downloaded… So in the meantime, use the comment section to add whatever highlights you would like or do rant about football.

2 weeks left, including a very rare 5 game evening of DaBears Softball this upcoming Monday Night. As we wrap up the season, year, and decade it is time to start looking back on what the F happened. Take a look at all the updated stats and start submitting your votes for the various awards that we will have to knock out in December. Today, we will start with the hot corners for DaBears this past decade.

On a night when DaBears put together their most complete victories of the season, all I can remember is the whacky crap that happened. Let’s go in reverse order:
*9:30 – Ditka falls from the ranks of the unbeaten. No Bo or Big Matt, plus many errors, a strikeout and a DP = first loss of the season 11-14.
*7:30 – DaBears win 16-3. This game was over before DaBears finished batting in the first inning, as the team began switching positions immediately but the highlights were still to come well after DaBears jumped out to a double digit lead… Colby, Worm, Neven, Old Matt, and Softball Jesus were all missing from this game so DaBears called in the ol veteran Alan Smith and he was involved in one of the biggest plays of the game. Here are the highlights:
1. The Shortstop for the Crusaders took his glove off and threw it at Peters’ grounder keeping Jake at second base. The lousy umpires though intervened and turned this awesome play by the SS into a Bears triple and RBI for Peters because of some stinkin “rule”. This caused all 20 players on the field to protest in favor of the SS and I think that is the first time that’s ever happened.
2. Alan hit a pop up between home and first with the bases loaded and one out that turned into a cool play after the first baseman dove for it, knocking it to the pitcher who ran home and tagged out Jake at the plate for the very rare 3-1 put out at home.
3. Wagnon could hardly walk by the end of the game, James hit a single to the fence, Wagnon struck out, and 4 people pitched.
4. The biggest highlight came in the top of the first when Poochie came up to the plate for the second time in the inning after recording the second out 10 batters earlier. The rest is history.
*6:30 – DaBears 14, Tate Springs 6. Great hitting, great fielding, great pitching and no stupid baserunning = the best game DaBears have played in a long time.

This changed my life… for real.

It is so fitting that Matt mentioned that F-Face game from so many years ago at Softball World… Because today is the 14th anniversary of one of the greatest, most memorable moments in the history of DaBears Softball. There was no interets back then, so the best I can do on this Danny White Day is to show some old pics, box scores and ask how many of you were already tucked into bed when Tim Baggett’s F-Face nephew eliminated the young Bears from the tournament in his F-Face way.
