This day in DaBears great history…
November 11, 2009It is so fitting that Matt mentioned that F-Face game from so many years ago at Softball World… Because today is the 14th anniversary of one of the greatest, most memorable moments in the history of DaBears Softball. There was no interets back then, so the best I can do on this Danny White Day is to show some old pics, box scores and ask how many of you were already tucked into bed when Tim Baggett’s F-Face nephew eliminated the young Bears from the tournament in his F-Face way. Enjoy.

| The F Face Game | |||||||||||||||

Game 2 was entertaining also as we beat some poor team that drove 2 hours just to go 2-and-out despite Dave getting ejected after making some dude pay when he tried to cross home plate and us having some guy in jeans finish the game at catcher.
I’m pretty sure that is the same day that Keston and Dave got Merton Hanks and Steve Young’s autographs.
Merton Hanks…the first bobble-head
FREEEEEEEDOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
^AWESOME^
I have lifetime stats updated along with stats from this decade. I’ll put both on the stat page later or tomorrow, but here is some trivia in the meantime:
1. Since this decade is winding down, can you name 7 guys with over 500 hits.
2. Who is the hit leader for this decade?
3. Who has more lifetime RBI – Bo or Teddy?
4. Who has more lifetime RBI – Nick, Colby or Green?
5. Can you name the 6 players that have more than 10 strikeouts this decade?
2. Wagnon
3. Bo
4. Colby
5. Heizerjackass, Dave, Josh (fucking winter league), Colby, ???
Yeah, fucking Winter League. Although I think I’m still short of 10.
How short of 10 are you Josh? Closer to 6 or 7?
I’m closer to 10 once the roofie kicks in.
But the more important measurement is the size of my fist. Ask Neven.
Josh is not one of the players with 10 or more strikeouts this decade.
Neven was right on 3 of them:
Nick – 21
Dave – 20
Colby – 14
There are actually 7 total – so 4 more.
Me…duh
Correct – Peters is 4th with 12 in the decade.
3 more.
I’m guessing Old Matt.
Old Matt – 12
2 more
Strikeout hint:
1 Bear still plays a lot and 1 plays very little these days.
Kabby and Jeffe?
I’m going to say Eli because he will get mad and probably kill someone. j/k Eli- I heart you
Shall we play a game?
The only Bears with 10 Ks are:
Dave
Nick
Teddy
Jeffe
Colby
Matt
Paul
Peters
Kabakoff
Jimmy
Wagnon
Nick, Dave, Colby, Peters and Old Matt have already been identified leaving:
Teddy
Jeffe
Paul
Kabakoff
Jimmy
Wagnon
Jimmy and Wagnon have been playing too long and probably scored enough Ks in the 90s to not make the list leaving:
Teddy
Jeffe
Paul
Kabakoff
One plays regularly so that means Kabakoff is guilty leaving one more from these three:
Teddy
Jeffe
Paul
Teddy no longer plays so he’s out leaving:
Jeffe
Paul
Both rarely play but I’m going to go with the younger under the assumption that he scored more Ks more recently meaning Paul is guilty as well.
I have severe tired head now.
Danny knows DaBears history. Congratulations.
Back to that whacky tournamnet 14 years ago – so many crazy things happened that day.
-Matt was told by his mom that he needed therapy
-the Keston war cry
-Sanford and Son
-Dave getting thrown out
-the barehanded double play
-Keston and Dave meeting Steve Young and Merton Hanks
-and of course, F-Face
But the craziest thing is me batting after Neven. I love you.
